Ruth Mewis, Owner/Administrator
Winnetuxet Children’s Place was developed because of my interest in and commitment to young children and their families. I provide unique qualities, talents, interests and skills which are needed to make up a well-balanced administrative, teaching and support system for the school. My charge is total responsibility of personal and professional goals in order to achieve harmony and mutuality throughout the school with respect, tolerance, acceptance, patience, honesty, trust and friendship.
I have been educated, trained and professionally prepared as a teacher of young children in accordance with requirements put forth by the Department of Early Education and Care.
PHILOSOPHY
Early childhood is a time when key elements of a child’s personality can be positively affected.
Self-esteem and a healthy curiosity about the world are traits that I actively encourage in my programs.
Each child is approached at his or her developmental level so that discovery and maturation can take place in a non-stressful yet challenging atmosphere.
Attention is given to emotional and social needs with a particular emphasis placed on evolving a sense of community within the classroom setting.
The Winnetuxet Children’s Place shall not discriminate in providing service(s) to children and their families on the basis of race, religion, cultural heritage, political beliefs, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or toilet-training status.
Curriculum includes imaginative play, nature science, the arts, science/technology/engineering, mathematics, English language arts, history/social science and health education.
